Robert R. Dunn joined Bailey Cavalieri as a Member in 2003, and its predecessor firm, Arter & Hadden, in 1991 where he became a Partner in 2000.  He has devoted a significant portion of his practice to estate planning and administration since being admitted to the Bar in 1991.

 

Mr. Dunn's professional practice involves the planning and implementation of many estate plans, from the basic to the more complex involving all levels of net worth, from the more modest to multi-million dollar in size.  His practice includes preparing and serving as trustee of various types of family trusts.  He has represented estates at the IRS field audit level and appellate level.  He has extensive experience in probate litigation including will contests and declaratory judgment actions.  He is also experienced in the area of tax litigation.  Mr. Dunn successfully represented an estate against the Ohio Department of Taxation in a test case to require the ODT to apply Ohio 's additional estate tax consistent with changes in federal law.  He has represented many estates at the field audit level and the IRS appellate level.

 

Mr. Dunn is a member of the Ohio Bar.  He is certified in Ohio as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law.  He received his B.A. from the University of Kentucky, with Distinction, and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University .

Noteworthy Matters

Representing an estate in the successful challenge to the Ohio Department of Taxation's attempt to decouple Ohio 's additional estate tax from federal law.  Has handled several cases at the appellate level and before the Ohio Supreme Court.
