  • Jameel's liquor practice consists of representing liquor permit holders in administrative matters, including the resolution of liquor law violations, citations, and sales and use tax delinquencies.
  • Jameel has experience with the local option election process for areas in Ohio that are dry for liquor sales.
  • Jameel represents popular retail convenience store chain Circle K in all Ohio liquor matters. Jameel provides counsel regarding Circle K's acquisitions of Ohio convenience stores. In that capacity, Jameel has worked with the Ohio Department of Commerce to successfully complete more than 200 liquor permit transfers the past three years.
  • Jameel has experience assisting clients through the local option election process for areas in Ohio that are dry for beer and wine sales.
  • Jameel's consumer law practice involves assisting retail clients with advertising law issues and the conduct of various sweepstakes and contests in compliance with state gambling laws. Jameel has also successfully negotiated settlements on behalf of consumers who have been damaged by unlawful sales practices.
  • With respect to unclaimed property, Jameel has successfully negotiated several voluntary disclosure agreements on behalf of delinquent unclaimed property holders, as well as participated in the defense of unclaimed property audits conducted by third party auditors in conjunction with state regulators. Jameel has also assisted clients with unclaimed property compliance strategies with respect to gift cards and merchandise credits.
  • Additionally, Jameel has experience assisting health care entities with compliance issues related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
