John J. Dilenschneider, Of Counsel
Mr. Dilenschneider, who is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and who holds an AV rating in Martindale Hubbell, is a former U.S. Bankruptcy Judge and former Counsel to the Supreme Court of Ohio. He specializes in insolvency matters. In addition to having been an editor of the American Bankruptcy Law Journal for five years and having taught bankruptcy as an Adjunct Professor at The Ohio State University School of Law, Mr. Dilenschneider has testified before Senate subcommittees, the SEC and the Federal Election Commission on bankruptcy legislation. Mr. Dilenschneider currently is a contributing author for Collier on Bankruptcy and the Collier Bankruptcy Practice Guide on chapters relating the appointment and removal of the trustee, the trustee's avoidance powers, the filing and modification of Chapter 11 plans and disclosure statements. In Chapter 11 cases and workouts throughout the United States Mr. Dilenschneider has represented major financial institutions and other creditors, as well as creditors committees, equipment lenders committees, bank groups, and limited partners committees. He has also represented Indenture Trustees in the Chapter 11s of Atlanta West Hospital in Georgia, the Brethrens' Home in Greenville, Ohio, Ames Departments Stores in New York City, Continental Airlines in Wilmington, Delaware, Revco Drug Stores in Akron, Ohio, National Bancshares Corporation in San Antonio, Texas, Wilson Meats in Topeka, Kansas, Cedar Rapids Meats in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Cornbelt Inc. in Minneapolis. On the debtor's side, Mr. Dilenschneider has handled a $50 million dollar workout for a major ethanol company, a $15 million dollar workout for an aerospace contractor, a $250 million dollar workout for a major entertainment firm, and a chapter 11 for a retail store chain in Lexington, Kentucky. On the asset purchase side, Mr. Dilenschneider represented clients in the purchase of real estate in a chapter 11 in Charleston, West Virginia, a paper plant in a chapter 11 in Boston, Massachusetts, and the chapter 11 purchase of a plastics company in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Dilenschneider has authored several articles in the American Bankruptcy Law Journal and has spoken at ABA Conferences, National Credit Manager Conferences, the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, and seminars at the Ohio State University Law School, the University of Kentucky Law School, the University of Michigan Law School, the University of West Virginia Law School, the American Trial Lawyers Association, The Southeastern Bankruptcy Institute, the Midwestern Bankruptcy Institute, and the Commercial Law League.
