Bailey Cavalieri represents clients in tax audits, assessments and appeals, and tax litigation.  We represent our clients before the Internal Revenue Service, Ohio Department of Taxation, and local municipalities.  Whenever possible, we attempt to quickly resolve tax issues with those taxing authorities.  When tax issues cannot be resolved, we represent our clients at the United States Tax Court, Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, and various Boards of Revision throughout the state. Where appropriate, we assist our clients with Offers in Compromise and represent our clients with those offers before the IRS and the Ohio Attorney General.

We also work with non-profit organizations to plan tax issues unique to those entities. We prepare numerous applications for tax exemptions. We also advise these clients about tax pitfalls, such as unrelated business income tax, and their distinctive tax reporting requirements.

The Firm also has extensive experience in estate tax disputes and in charitable contribution planning. We work on all aspects of estate, gift and generation skipping transfer taxes. Our experience also includes work with estate and trust income taxes.

Our attorneys have extensive experience in tax aspects of employee benefits, including qualified plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and all types of equity based compensation for key employees.

The Firm has significant experience in representing taxpayers in state and local tax matters, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, real property tax, and interstate sales tax issues. We also counsel our clients about the Ohio commercial activity tax.
